Our story, since 1978

Three Generations Of Roofing In Los Angeles County And Orange County.

It started with a fourteen-year-old from Ensenada, a ladder, and a promise he made to a woman named Dolores.

He Came North At Fourteen.

Juan Lara left Ensenada, Baja California, at fourteen years old. His first work in the United States was in the fields: long days, early mornings, the kind of labor that teaches you exactly what a full day actually costs.

Then he found a ladder. A local roofing company took him on, and he discovered something he was good at, something that paid better, asked more of him, and left a finished thing behind at the end of the day that you could stand under and point at.

Why "Baja"

The Name On The Truck Is The Place He Came From.

Baja Roofing is named for Baja California, for Ensenada, the town Juan left at fourteen. Every roof we finish across Los Angeles County and Orange County carries the name of his home on it. That was deliberate then, and it still is now.

The reason

He Didn't Build A Company. He Built A Life With Tita.

Then he met Dolores, known to everyone as Tita, the valedictorian of her high school class. She was sharp, and she had every reason to expect a lot from whoever she chose. Juan decided he would be worth choosing.

So he worked. He learned every part of the trade at Eastern Roofing and rose to the top of the company. He earned his United States citizenship. And when the chance came, he bought the company outright and renamed it after the place that made him: Baja Roofing.

A kid from Ensenada bought the company he started at as a laborer. That is the whole origin story, and everything since has been built on top of it.

Two decades at the helm, one roof and one referral at a time, with Tita keeping the books and the family together.

Juan's son takes over and turns the company toward commercial work, adding coatings expertise and renaming it to match.

The third generation brings it back to the family name, and back to treating homeowners the way Papa did.

Jeremy Lara
The return

Raised By Papa And Tita. Came Back For A Reason.

I was raised by Juan and Dolores. I got their work ethic at the kitchen table and their compassion everywhere else. The way they treated people who couldn't do anything for them was never separate from the way they ran a business.

I went out and worked for large roofing companies to learn how the industry really operates. What I saw bothered me. Commercial clients got the good crews, the fast responses, and the honest scopes. Homeowners got whatever was left: upsold, talked down to, and chased for the balance.

So I came back and rebranded to Baja Roofing Inc., to honor Papa, and to give every homeowner across Los Angeles County and Orange County the same care a commercial account gets.

Our family's name is on your roof, and it's our grandfather's legacy. That's why every home gets treated like it matters. Because to us, it does.

Our values

Four Things Papa And Tita Insisted On.

Dedication

We finish what we start, on the schedule we gave you. A job isn't done when the crew leaves. It's done when it's right.

Hard work

Our own crews, early starts, and a site swept clean every evening. Juan started in the fields; nobody here is above the work.

Love

This company exists because of one. We build roofs we'd put over our own family, because often enough we have.

Compassion

We tell you when you don't need a roof. Nobody gets pressured, and nobody gets talked down to in their own home.
