Torch-down is modified bitumen roofing, asphalt reinforced with polymer and a fiberglass or polyester mat, supplied in rolls and bonded with an open flame that melts the underside of the sheet into the layer below it.
It's built for flat and low-slope roofs: decks, additions, garages, second-story walk areas, and any surface where water moves slowly. Because the sheets install in overlapping plies with seams fused rather than glued, the result is a continuous membrane with genuine redundancy. If the cap sheet gets punctured, the base ply is still there underneath.
